IT 2017 is a remake of Stephen Kings original IT released in 1990.
It is a horror film based on the story surrounding a clown that lives in the sewers and the connection with children going missing.
The storyline for IT is very interesting, but also quite basic. Many details are left out but I believe this is because of the follow-up films they intend to create. To me it is a one of a kind horror film and I like how it doesn’t fall into the tricks that any other horror film would pull off such as the standard jump scare.
Generally horror movies are quite predictable but what I loved about IT is that you are left constantly waiting to be scared. There isn’t really any moments in which you can prepare yourself as they just jump right in to the horror from start to finish. The horror is perfectly mixed with comedy from the kids that you can’t help but adore and relate to their fears of growing up, menstruation, and illness which does help ease off the tension a bit. But then again just as you get comfortable watching these kids goof around, bam out of nowhere there’s a jump scene.
The film has many scenes that will leave you disturbed or shocked about what you have just seen, but let’s be honest, it’s not really worth watching any film that doesn’t leave you gobsmacked.
What really drew me into the film was the millions of questions I had when it finished. What happens to all the missing kids, what happens after Pennywise and most importantly tell me about Georgie!!!!
Although I am excited for the next chapters in the movies I also hope that it doesn’t become another horror franchise they milk as much as possible such as paranormal activity and insidious. IT was a beautifully cinematic film that doesn’t need to be overkill.
Any other horror movies you can recommend?
