More Than Music: Fall Out Boy at Birmingham

The god’s of rock and roll once again summonned me to a performance.

I have seen Fall Out Boy live four times. Once at a festival and the rest on tour, so it goes without saying that I am a die-hard fob fan. My inner rock chic stage never left me and I will forever choose to headbang to Dance Dance.

When they released their latest album ‘Mania’ I was hesitant about going to see them on tour. Quite frankly i think its crap and completely and utterly not Fall Out Boy, so I didn’t bother to learn their music and was dreading seeing them live only to hate what they performed.

The show was EPIC. They played all the bangers and throwback hits like Saturday, Hum Halleljua, Sugar and many, many more while also including Phoenix, and Save Rock and Roll. They didn’t play too many songs from their new album which shocked me. A tour promoting their new album where they don’t open with a new album song kinda shocked me a bit as that is the route most bands follow, but hey i dont like it that much any so im not complaining. I know it hasn’t been received as well as their other albums so maybe they know that the audience doesn’t agree with it too much either. It’s just not their best work.

The show was rock and roll at its finest, drum and piano solos, high-flying performances (literally they were in a floating podium rocking out it was friggin sick) and the laid back idgaf attitude that Fall Out Boy is all about. It was fist pumping, head banging, sing at the top of your voice energy filled show and i was in love with the feeling.

I loved it and have been buzzing two days since we went. I’m glad they performed how we know and love them, and I will forever love little Patrick Stumps booty that he shakes for every song, my spirit animal <3

Thank you Fall Out Boy for not causing disappointment and thank you for giving me Rock and roll.

Do you have a favourite Fall Out Boy song? Everyone does don’t try to even hide your secret little emotion phase 😉

Lots of love…

AAAAAAAAAHHHHH I’M SO FREAKING JEALOUS!!!! I love Fall Out Boy and ALMOST got to see them at download one year, but didn’t go. I’m glad they didn’t play much of their new stuff…I’m pretty much in the same boat as you – not a big fan of their latest album. xx

I had such a fun time here too ahhhh! I was kinda a few rows back where Pete was! Ya know when Pete starting shouting at the guys in the pit forcing people to go into the pit? I was just in front of them! I’m glad you had fun! Personally I don’t mind Mania, it definitely grew on me on the days leading up to the tour. I do think that the songs sounded a lil more fall out boy live, if that makes sense?! They definitely didn’t sound like the CD version! xxx
