Who doesn’t enjoy a bowl of cheesy pasta covered in bacon?? Or as I like to call it Spaghetti carbonara!
Groovy people, today for part of my simple series I’m going to show you how I cook spaghetti carbonara. To some extend I don’t follow the rules but without floating my boat too far out, I think I do a pretty good job.
The important thing to remember for this recipe, is because I live on my own I can’t really go out the way to buy special things, so it’s about making work what you have. e.g I can’t afford to buy garlic every time as it goes out of date so it is better value for money to get a garlic grinder seasoning.
- Two slices of bacon
- 30g of butter (any will do)
- Salt grinder
- Pepper grinder
- Garlic Grinder
- 100g grated cheese
- 150 ml of milk
- 40 g of flour
- enough spaghetti that you think you need.
- As much spinach as you like
Firstly you want to put the spaghetti onto boil in a separate pot. This only takes a few minutes so when soft, turn the heat down and leave to simmer.
Secondly, the white sauce.Ensure you are using a decent sized pot for this as the pasta will be added in later. Pour in the milk and add the butter. Stir together and once the butter is all melted in, add the grated cheese. Mix these all together and then add a twist of salt, pepper and the garlic.
Now for the best part!!! The crispy bacon mmmmmmmm. Cut the bacon into very small chunks and fry until brown and crispy. Once this has been done, add them into the white cheese sauce and mix together.
For the final step, drain the pasta and mix in with the cheese sauce. I tend to add in the spinach as this point as for a very cheesy meal its good to get some healthy greens in.
Living on your own opens a world up to cooking, and sometimes its good not to follow the rules, turns out thats my best way of cooking!
Who doesn’t like pasta covered in plenty of cheese and bacon ey?
Lots of love,
