My new job!

Hey there pretty people of the interweb, how is everyone today?

A few weeks back I posted about my last day in Property Services, a job I had been in since leaving school. If you missed it you can read about it here!

It’s now been a whole month since I started my new job so I thought I would tell you a little about what it involves.

What do I do?
I am managing the contract for our grounds maintenance contractor across Tewkesbury Borough which basically involves the management and maintenance of our open space and trees and hedges. I did something similar before, but now I have more of a say and a lot more responsibility to ensure the contractor is following the terms of the contract and getting the job done to the standard we expect.

What is the team like?
Previously, Property involved working heavily as a team, but this role completely differs from that, and I am a lot more of a sole worker as it is myself, my manager and my colleague who manages the street cleansing side of the contract. Its been hard getting used to this change but I am still enjoying it. Not only that but I am one of the only few women in this type of work as grounds maintenance is usually heavily dominated by males.  A little lass like me can still measure out a field and complete tree inspections stuck in the mud wearing boots, and still look fabulous doing it! The people I sit with are lovely but I am definitely not used to the quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of Property.

What is my office/desk like?
Luckily I am still in the same office, it’s just a different department so I know the rules, but now I get a window seat! Living the life of luxury now…

Do you miss your old team?
Most definitely! it makes me really sad that I’m not working with them anymore, but at the end of the day everyone has to do what’s best for them and this was a risk definitely worth taking.

I hope you enjoyed reading a little insight into my work space and if you understand what I do, bravo, i’m basically the parks and recreation contract manager if you have ever watched it?

But anyway, thanks for reading and have a luuuurveeeely day!

Lots of love,
