Hello beautiful people of the internet,
Todays post is a little chatty today. I want to talk to you about something really important to me, and to your mental well-being.
Self care is something I regularly neglect, as I worry too much about other people’s feelings. Something that is really bothering me, may not be said, because I don’t want to make someone feel bad, or I take on too much work because I want to please everyone. There have been occasions where ive gone out my way so much for someone and ran errands or completed favours where I just haven’t eaten all day because ive been running after someone.
All in all, this has wiped me. My brain is mentally exhausted and my mental health has suffered from it.
Self care can vary in the form of just having a slob day and bingeing that Netflix show you’ve wanted to watch, or buying yourself that new album you’ve wanted to listen to. But what is most important about self-care is putting yourself first. Don’t rush to meet those deadlines, whats the worst that could happen if somethings a few days late? Don’t make plans that evening if you want to order a take out and put on a face mask.
But most importantly, say how you feel. Tell that person if they’ve upset you, or if you love them or even if you think their new hair cut is crap! If you’re not happy at your new job, leave!! Do not put yourself through an experience that is draining you mentally, because eventually it will also effect you physically. This is something it has taken me a while to learn and to adapt, but once you incorporate it into your life, it becomes easier and you in yourself become happier. I guarantee your brain will thank you for it.
Always put yourself first, because at the end of the day you are the only person that matters.
