Boy was I excited to write this up.
My FIRST time experiencing Arctic Monkeys live in an arena and with their comeback tour after 5 years!!!!!
So I’m going to give you a little history. I have seen Arctic Monkeys live before, i was front row at the barriers of Reading Festival 2014, a few months after they had just released their AM album. It was CHAOS. Being my first festival, i wasn’t really prepared for the absolute madness that came with seeing AM perform live and little 16-year-old Sophie was battling for her life.
Being at the front meant i had the entire Reading Fest audience pushing me against the barrier and after 30 mins on non stop crushing I had enough and got dragged over the barrier by security. So this gig was a big deal for me. I needed it for myself, to show to myself that I can survive in a rowdy crowd.
The new AM album isn’t my cup of tea. I like it, but its slow and calm and i don’t think you can go wrong with a thrashing of a monkeys song. But i still wanted to go, so we went and saw them at Birmingham.
They started with Four out of Five from their new album, a nice calm crowd, then suddenly, the guitar riff bellowed and you hear “Brianstorm” dun dun dun dun yaaaaaas lets goooo wilddddddd. I fucking loved it. The crowd went absolutely bat shit mad, mosh pits opened up every where and it was friggin insane.
Knee socks, Why do you only call me when you’re high, Cornerstone, Arabella, Dancing Shoes and the one song I cared about most, Pretty visitors!! All of it was sick. An encore of i bet you look good on the dancefloor, finished off an already epic show.
The whole performance was wild and they put so much detail into each and every song with the background and lights and Alex Turner just soaked it all in.
I tell you what, you haven’t lived until you’ve been in a Brianstorm moshpit and hear the crowed sing the guitar riff, that right there is true rock and roll at its finest.
I saw a few other bloggers saw them live so if you did what did you think?
I have plenty more gigs coming up over the next few months, this time of year is peak gig season so i’ll be in my element!!
Lots of love,
