I love Halloween as much as the next person, but I definitely think we deserve more than one day to celebrate all things spooky. Luckily Netflix released their list of Halloween movies a while back and of course I have been diving in.
Today I am going to take you through a few of the movies I have watched which are currently on Netflix and let you know my thoughts.
Now first up, I have to get this one out of the way; Wounds. This movie has such a good cast including Dakota Johnson and had SO MUCH potential to be a good movie, but boy what a load of rubbish! The storyline is basically about a bar man who finds a phone with horrible images and videos on and then the kids who own the phone, haunt him a little. But even that explanation is a bit dodgy because the movie just generally makes no sense, has SO many unanswered questions??? The whole build up had alot of potential to be a good horror movie and has been made to a high quality, but the ending sucked the life out of me. 2/10 RUBBISH
This was only slightly better then Wounds. It had a story, and the story had meaning, but I would call this a very easy horror movie to watch. There were minimal jump scares and just a lot of tension. I enjoyed this movie but its not something I would recommend watching. It has a very basic approach to a storyline which has a lot of potential. The movie in itself is about a therapist with her own history catching up on her, and although the ending was dramatic and threw a few twists in, I am left feeling disappointed. 6/10 Mediocre
In The Tall Grass
I don’t know where to start with this movie. It definitely isn’t a horror movie. To put it bluntly it is about people who get lost in tall grass. Its an easy to watch horror and there was closure which I personally always prefer with horrors because after an intense hour or so of watching, you need the relief that comes with closure. I think this was the first movie I watched which didn’t make me jump once, and thats all quite disappointing considering this is a Stephen King adaption, who created the amazing IT. 3/10
Now I know what your thinking, Soph why did you bother writing this when they all suck? Well they sucked so much I had to warn you all not to watch them! Not worth even viewing the trailer. Wounds made me mad more than any of the others because it had so much potential and ended dreadfully, but the other two were just meh the entire way through. I think the main thing we can take from this is don’t watch Netflix original horror movies because they do NOTHING.
Can you recommend any better horror movies to relinquish halloween for me?
Lots of love,
