Earth Day Special: The Silver Lining of Coronavirus

23/04/2020

On Wednesday 22nd April, it was Earth Day. It is an annual celebration around the world for everything about environmental protection.

I suppose this year celebrations are limited, but thats okay because despite the fact we are all on lockdown, the earth is absolutely flourishing from this.

Daily I see articles of air pollution being lifted. The waters in Venice are clear enough that jellyfish and other aquatic life have returned due to their being no boats polluting the water. The weather is absolutely beautiful and wildlife is thriving in these conditions. Starry nights are clear every night, the roads are silent and hedgehogs/foxes and badgers are loving life.

Amongst all the pain that Coronavirus is bringing, this is a result of our own actions, so it is nice to know that despite all of this, the planet, animals and Mother Nature are thriving restoring all the damage we had caused over the years. Below are a few articles I have linked of all the wonderful things that has come from Coronavirus for the planet.

Himalayas now visible

Baby sea turtles thriving

China bans the consumption of dog and cat meat

Canals in Venice are now clear

In reality, Coronavirus might really be the kick up the butt we as a race need in our fight against climate change, as nature takes back the life we stole, this really is the message we need. Animals and nature come first, because without them in place and healthy we wouldn’t even survive. Use these next few weeks to make the most of the peace and quiet, enjoy the outdoors, the sunshine, the clear night skies, and the sound of birds in the morning.

But most importantly, don’t take your home for granted, not the house you live in, but the planet that brought you here.

Lots of love,

I think this is one of the only things I like about this whole situation! I never knew about the waters in Venice, that’s amazing! Thanks for sharing Sophie 🙂

Love this! It’s so great that even in this pandemic nature is healing itself and positive things like that are happening xx
